Becoming Her: The Woman God Is Calling You to Be

Many women today are exhausted from trying to perform a version of themselves that God never asked them to become. Some are hiding, surviving, or shrinking, while others have forgotten who they are completely. But there's another version of you waiting to emerge - not the broken, fearful, or people-pleasing version, but the healed, aligned, confident, and purpose-driven woman that God designed before the foundations of the world.

LISTEN IN ON THE SHETV NETWORK VIDEO PODCAST - Becoming Her: The Woman God Is Calling You to Be

1. Why Knowing Your True Identity Matters

Before you can become the woman God is calling you to be, you must first understand who you truly are. This isn't just a cliché - it's foundational to your spiritual growth and purpose.

*God Knew You Before You Were Born

Scripture reminds us in Jeremiah 1:5: "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart." This isn't past tense knowledge - God knew you completely before you even existed. Your identity was established by Him long before any earthly circumstances shaped your understanding of yourself.

*The Enemy's Strategy Against Your Identity

One of the greatest attacks against women today is identity confusion. The enemy understands that if he can confuse your identity, he can delay your purpose. This is why many women spend years trying to become acceptable instead of becoming authentic.

We often become what people needed us to be, what trauma shaped us to be, or what rejection convinced us we were. But here's a powerful truth: God never consults your pain before calling you powerful.

*Stop Introducing Yourself by Your Wounds

Before the heartbreak, divorce, disappointment, or betrayal, God already knew who you were. Some are trying to discover externally what can only be revealed spiritually. You are not random, forgotten, or too late - you are chosen.

Stop introducing yourself by your wounds and traumas. Instead, start identifying yourself by your purpose and who God has called you to be.

2. Why Healing Is Essential for Your Transformation

Becoming the woman God is calling you to be requires healing from what has caused you pain. As 2 Corinthians 5:17 tells us: "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!"

*The Truth About Unhealed Pain

Unhealed pain will make you sabotage the very thing you've prayed for. Some women want healthy relationships but haven't healed from rejection. Others want purpose but still battle insecurity. Some desire elevation but are emotionally exhausted.

Healing is not weakness - it's wisdom. God cannot fully pour into a version of you that refuses to surrender. He needs a new wineskin to pour new oil into.

*What Healing Really Means

Sometimes becoming HER means grieving who you used to be - the old mindset, habits, relationships, and fears. Every resurrection requires a death to something old.

Healing is uncomfortable, but so is staying stuck. You cannot carry pain into purpose forever. Healing is not about pretending nothing happened - it's about refusing to let what happened define your future.

3. How to Embrace the Evolution Process

After knowing who you are and healing from your past, you must be willing to evolve. Romans 12:2 instructs us: "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind."

*The Requirements of Transformation

You cannot pray for transformation while resisting change. Some want a new season with an old mindset, a new level with old habits, or a healed future with wounded thinking.

Growth requires stretching, and not everyone can go where God is taking you. Even Jesus, who had twelve disciples, only took a few to pray and even fewer up the mountain. Sometimes becoming her means setting boundaries, walking away from distractions, and protecting your peace.

*The Woman You're Becoming Already Exists

The most powerful truth is that the woman God is calling you to become already exists inside you. She's waiting for you to stop doubting yourself long enough to meet her. When God created the earth, He planted seeds within every living thing. Everything you need to become who He's called you to be is already within you.

Some of you are one decision away from a completely different life - one decision made without doubting yourself or seeking others' affirmation for what God is telling you to do.

What Your Next Level Requires

Your next level will require:

  • A new mindset

  • New discipline

  • New faith

  • Trust in the process

Life Application

Becoming her is not about perfection - it's about alignment. It's about waking up every day and choosing growth, healing, obedience, and purpose. The process will stretch you and make you second-guess yourself, but it will also reveal the powerful, chosen woman God is calling you to be.

This week, challenge yourself to stop shrinking and stop apologizing for your growth. Stop doubting what God has already confirmed. This is your season to become healed, empowered, and restored.

*Questions for Reflection:

  1. What false labels or identities have I been carrying that don't align with who God says I am?

  2. What areas of my life need healing before I can step into my next level?

  3. What old mindsets, habits, or relationships do I need to release to make room for who I'm becoming?

4. How can I stop introducing myself by my wounds and start identifying with my purpose this week?
